There you are, seated comfortably at the table with a nice full plate of food.
You pull out your phone or turn on the TV and multi task your binge eating/scrolling/viewing.
Before you know it, you look down and your food has disappeared.
Where the heck did it go? You ask yourself,”Did I just eat all of that”?
Then you realize you are still hungry and go get some more food so that you can actually enjoy what you are eating.
The problem this brings about is that it makes you consume more calories than you might need. You don’t properly digest your food. You are not taking the time to enjoy the food and nourishment in front of you.
Here are the solutions:
- Put the electronics away and turn off the TV
- This helps you to be in the moment and enjoy what you are eating.
- Eat Slower
- Take a bite and properly chew your food. This will help your stomach and digestion out.
- Take 20 minutes to eat
- This goes with the 2nd one, but I felt it deserved its own bullet point. Try to make your meal last 20 minutes because this is how long it takes your body to realize that it is full. In addition to chewing your food properly, have meaningful conversation with those around you.
Become plate aware.
There ya have it. Put that into play and let me know how it goes!
