The GrimStrong Blog

Hello to all of you out there on the interwebz. I have obviously decided to start my own blog, so welcome to the page!

I plan to create simple posts on things related to fitness, life, and whatever I feel needs to be shared to help you all live a better life, in and out of the gym.

Background

My name is Eric and I am a personal trainer in the Sugar Land, Tx area. I train at Iron Strength Kettlebell Gym and have been for the past four years. I am also a proud husband and father. Family and training are my two passions in life. I strive to learn each and every day and become better at my craft.

My Story

I graduated from Texas State University with my Bachelors in Exercise and Sport Science. I played football there for a few years and the plan was to get into physical therapy school after that. While in college, I lost my Dad. Motivation to stay fit after football went down the drain. I became lazy and overweight. For some time, most days of the week, I would drink 2-3 beers before bed to destress some and fall asleep. I easily became a sloppy 230lbs. My pant sizes grew to 38’s and even had a pair of dress pants in size 40. I was not on a good path.

Let’s fast forward some to when I found some motivation. I became closer and closer to the ‘girl next door’ (actually she lived across the street from me back home). We began dating and I wanted to start looking better. After a couple years of dating, we got engaged. I wanted to look good for the wedding and honeymoon, so we started working out together. I started to slowly change my nutritional habits as well, and the weight started to fall off. We got married in 2011 and have been very happy ever since.

As mentioned earlier, the plan was to get into Physical Therapy school. Over a couple year span while working at an outpatient rehab center, I got burned out on the idea of PT school. At this moment in time, I decided I wanted to pursue a personal training career. I jumped in and have really enjoyed the journey that I am on. I have learned an incredible amount and continue to learn as much, and as fast, as I can. I really enjoy learning about how the body moves and working to improve the lives of others.

Final Thoughts

That is the short story of who I am and where I am at today. I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you all, as well as sharing information I think you will find helpful. Thank you for checking in and I hope you join me on this journey.

Before I go, I will ask you this question: What has motivated you to be better?

Be Confident. Be Strong.

Eric is a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM, a StrongFirst Kettlebell Instructor, an Original Strength Coach, and a Certified Physical Preparation Specialist.
